About King's Gate Prep.
Established by our founder Mrs. Irelene Laird, we aim to maintain her vision and desire to teach all students to be the best they can be academically, spiritually, physically, and morally as we lay the foundation for them to function effectively in our society”. We aim to create a family oriented atmosphere that encourages critical thinking and learning in traditional and non-traditional ways which will help our students develop the skills they need to function effectively in today’s society.
Kings Gate Prep School opened its doors in September 1970 in the church hall of the King’s Gate Disciples of Christ Church, now Kings Gate United Church at 49 Hope Road. The school started with seven students and a teacher’s assistant. In 1986 the school relocated to 16 Hillcrest Avenue with fifty six children on the first day of the school term, to date the school has a student capacity of 300 students and 15 teachers.
The school has maintained an excellent GSAT (previously Common Entrance Exam) pass mark of 90% to 100% for traditional high schools for a number of years.
The school operates two departments:
(1) The Early Childhood department for children ages 18 months - 5 years.
(2) The Primary Department for children ages 6 -12 years.
Both these departments are registered with the Ministry of Education and are guided by its curriculum. Enquire about us at the Ministry of Education just ask about Kings Gate Prep located in Region 1.
Like any journey in life, there are the mountain top and the deep valley experiences but Kings Gate Prep and those who have made the journey or any part of it have ultimately been made stronger and we are thankful for this. God did not say the road would be easy. Through it all He has been with us and we have stood tall and are among the best.
