The Independence City All Age School first opened its doors on November 1975. It was one of the first schools to be opened in the new community of Portmore. soon it became the school of choice for many parents who were desirous of having their children attend a prestigious school. As the years went by the Independence City All Age School was renamed Independence City Primary and Junior High School. In 1998 the school was one again transformed into the renowned Primary school institution it it today.

 

The mission of the Independence City Primary School is to provide our students with opportunities that will promote academic excellence cultural awareness, positive values and attitudes necessary in helping them to become rounded individuals in a dynamic world. The school will further develop programs that will enhance physical, spiritual and emotional growth.
