The Meadowbrook Preparatory School was established by the United church in Jamaican and the Cayman Islands, with Webster Memorial church as its sponsor. A committee was formed in the latter part of the year 1960 to make plans for setting up the school. This committee consisted of some members of the Board of Governors of Meadowbrook High School.

Through untiring and dedicated efforts the school became a reality on January 16, 1961 at the home of Mr. Whitmarsh Knight who was twenty-eight at the time. In January 1962, the school's location was changed to the home of Miss Madge Saunders. A year later the school was moved to its present site at 10 Flemmington Drive. A dedication service was held on January January 14, 1963 and the building was officially opened on February 28 of that same year. The school was an inter-denominational fee paying school for boys and girls between the ages of three years and twelve years. It aims at instilling sound and permanent christian values within each child helping to develop an awareness of the reality of God as well as an understanding of His love for mankind.

Over the years, the school has had as principals:
Miss Margaret Gartshore (January 1961-1967)
Miss Mae Grant (September 1967-1977)
Miss Norma Carey (September 1977-1985)
Mrs. Ruth Coke (September 1985-2000)
Miss Gloria Francis (September 2000-present)

These educators and administrators have made invaluable contributions to the success of this institution.
Daily worship plays an integral part of the Meadowbrook Prep. School life for teachers and pupils. Students are encouraged to care and share hence, every Friday they are asked to contribute an offering. This is used to help needy boys and girls in various Children's Homes.

The school also sets out to provide a rounded education for the children and attempts to help them in learning. In accordance with this aim and the three R's, students do Physical Education, Art, Music, Dance, Spanish and Computer Studies.

In an attempt to instill positive and lasting values of sharing, competing, discipline, integrity and confidence in each child, specific activities are organized to motivate students and encourage their participation and display of good sportsmanship. Pupils are given the opportunity to take part in Preparatory School competitions such as football, netball and athletics.

We can be proud of the fact that our students, over the years have not failed to show great courage and good qualities in the various events. An inter-house competition is held annually. Pupils form the four houses compete in the areas of football, netball and athletics.
