Hatfield Primary & Junior High School is situated in the cool don Figueroa Mountains in the North West constituency of Manchester on land owned by the Moravian church of Jamaica.

It is at an elevation of 2,200 ft above sea level and enjoys a superb climate in a rather sedate environment.

The school is Government-leased. This means that although the Government through the Ministry of Education has erected and owns the buildings, the land is owned by the Moravian Church, with which the Government has a leased agreement.

The school is structured and operated according to Governmental guidelines as stated in the Code of Regulations for schools. There is a Board of Management consisting of ten (10) persons headed by a Chairman who is recommended by the Central Executive of the Moravian Church, from which the land is leased. Community representatives are recommended by the Member of Parliament.

Other members are representatives of the Parents Teachers Association, Past Students Association, Academic and Ancillary Staff, Students’ Council, The Principal, and the Bursar who acts as Secretary to the Board. Persons thus recommended for membership must be formally appointed by the Ministry of Education.
Mission

The Mission Statement of the school incorporates that of the Ministry of Education and seeks to provide a system which secures quality education and endeavors through its programmes to make students literate, numerate and technologically aware. This is to facilitate a sense of pride and commitment to the advancement of self, critical thinking and display attitudes of well-rounded individuals.
