The Jamaican Association on Intellectual Disabilities (JAID) was established in 1956. Today it is the oldest and largest interdisciplinary organization of parents, professiona ls, and volunteers providing leadership in the field of intellectual disability.

 

We have a solid track record in the field. Our various programmes, for which we have partnered with the government, continue to provide a range of services to improve the quality of life for persons with Intellectual Disabilities. We facilitate community integration and acceptance.

 

Our services include:

- Providing special education intervention to children and youths 6-21years.

- Employment support through a social enterprise (Chupse)

- Apprenticeship programmes to equip young adults with life skills.

- An adult continuing education programme

- A social recreational programme which facilitates social interaction

- An adult leadership programme to empower young adults

- Counseling support and referral services.

- Family support services.
