The school is located in the vibrant community of Waterford (just behind the famous Caymanas Race Track). Painted in the school colours (red and white), Waterford Primary is the heart and soul of the community.
Waterford Primary is one of the pioneer schools in the Sunshine City of Portmore. The school had a population of two hundred and fifty four (254) students and six (6) teachers at its inception on the 27th of September 1978. Between 1979 -1980, enrollment increased by eight hundred and twelve (812). The highest student population that the school has ever seen is one thousand eight hundred (1800). This problem forced the Ministry of Education and school board to implement a shift system. In spite of the numerous schools that are built in Portmore, Waterford Primary manages to have a population of nine hundred (900) students with thirty five (35) highly qualified teachers.
For years Waterford Primary has been an inspiration for many schools within the zone despite numerous hindrances. Today the school boasts of its many achievements academically, aesthetically and in sports nationally and internationally.
