Vladimir Mikhailovich POLENOV
Born in 1951. Graduated from Moscow Institute (University) of International Relations in 1974. Speaks English, German and Spanish. Joined diplomatic service in 1974.
Diplomatic relations between the USSR and Jamaica were established on the 12th of March 1975. In January 1992, Jamaica recognized the Russian Federation as the successor state of the Soviet Union. Throughout all this time, Russia and Jamaica have been developing ties in the political, economic, humanitarian and other spheres. Traditional mutually friendly feelings of the peoples of Russia and Jamaica towards each other have always been contributing to the aspiration to widen and strengthen bilateral relations as well as intensify cooperation on the international arena.
Since February 2012, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Jamaica is His Excellency Vladimir Polenov.
Since December 2013, the non-resident Ambassador of Jamaica to the Russian Federation is Her Excellency Margaret Jobson.
