Our Mission
The Sandals Foundation seeks to help fulfill the promise of the Caribbean community through investment in sustainable projects in education; environment and community which improve people’s lives and preserve our natural surroundings.
The Sandals Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Sandals Resorts International. It is the culmination of three decades of dedication to playing a meaningful role in the lives of the communities where we operate across the Caribbean.
Our company was borne from the ethics and philosophies of our chairman, Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart who is above all a family man. Nothing means more.
To us family isn’t just our blood-ties. It’s our colleagues across our four brands and corporate offices too – the Sandals and Beaches family – and since the majority of our team come from our communities it stands to reason that we do all we can to make a difference in the Caribbean – because we’re family.
By definition, our responsibilities to family reflect our corporate social responsibilities. We believe things can be better and we want to make them better. We believe we have contributed much to the Caribbean over the years but we want to do more. We know that as World’s Best it’s our plans, hard work, skills and innovations that put us there – but we have a responsibility to put them to work beyond our resorts too.
The Sandals Foundation is our way of better enabling us to take on more of what needs to be done in the islands where we operate by making the Caribbean the best that we can be. It is not just about gathering and spending money. We also harness our passion, energy, skills and brand power to tackle issues under three broad headings of community; education and environment.

How We Work
The Sandals Foundation Board meets periodically to raise funds, consider and approve spending of those funds across the Caribbean under our focus areas of Community, Education and Environment. Projects considered for funding include those from external bodies, charities, partners and individuals as well as initiatives developed by our resorts in response to the needs of the communities they serve.
In addition in each region we have advisory boards made up of expertise such as environmentalists and social workers that we work closely with to ensure our projects are making a sustainable difference.
Our 9,000 team members across the region are the communities we serve – no one knows better than they do, the challenges faced every day in their neighborhoods. So that the board keeps it’s finger on the pulse of what is happening in our communities – special Foundation Teams made up of employees will be established at our resorts to help deliver outreach projects that we have been running for years, engage colleagues in volunteering efforts and to determine need. They will also be engaging and encouraging colleagues to play a bigger role in our everyday efforts to build and maintain great relationships with our local communities across the Caribbean.

Uplifting, engaging and empowering through community programs.
We believe in working with the community and for the community to tackle complex issues such as violence, poverty, disaffected youth, and lack of health care access and employment training. Together with civic leaders and neighbors, we’ve created programs directed at areas that will have the most sustainable and positive impact. While our community programs are wide in scope, they all share the common goals of giving people a chance to change lives. Programs supported by the Sandals Foundation include skills training with certification, mentorship, animal shelters and toy drives.
Our Promise To EDUCATION
Reaching our full potential through the efforts of educational programs.
The Sandals Foundation believes education at all levels provides the greatest opportunities for positive change for individuals and our nations throughout the Caribbean. Each year, we support thousands of students in educational facilities throughout the Caribbean community. The focus of the Sandals Foundation is ensuring as many children, youth and adults as possible have the educational opportunities they need to reach their full potential. Programs include community scholarships, adopted schools, book drives and literacy programs, and support of new libraries and computer facilities.
ENVIRONMENT
The Sandals Foundation believes in the preservation of our unique surroundings – from the delicate reefs, to the remarkable marine life, to the breathtaking beauty of the beaches, to the trees and flora. As we continue many of our community programs that have demonstrated a long history of success, the Sandals Foundation is also taking an increased leadership role as it develops ground breaking initiatives with the public and private sectors.
