B&D Trawling Limited is a dynamic family owned business whose principal activities are the fishing, purchasing and processing of seafood for export.

The company commenced its operations over thirty (30) years ago and operates in the downtown Pier 1 district of the Kingston Harbor.

The core business of the company is to fish and or purchase conch and lobster. The catch is then processed and packaged in its EU/HACCP certified plant for export to large seafood distributors based in France, USA and China. The company also contract process and markets Conch and Lobster for other licensed fishers and exports the said commodities in a similar fashion.

Each year the Fisheries Division of the Ministry of Agriculture awards 9 companies quotas to fish for conch. Each season lasts for three (3) months, mainly between the months of April and June. B&D is the largest individual quota holder in Jamaica as well as the largest processor and exporter of Conch in the World. Lobster on the other hand, is regulated by licenses but has no quota. The lobster season spans over a nine (9) month period usually between July of one year through to March of the following year. B&D is also the largest exporter of Lobster in Jamaica.

Lobster Fishing is the other mainstay of the company. B&D Trawling exports approximately 150,000 lbs per season. Although no quota system is in place for lobsters the industry is regulated by the Ministry of agriculture. The lobster season runs from July to March each year and lobsters can only be caught during this time.
The lobsters processed are exported to the USA.

B&D Trawling enjoys a very good relationship with its Customers. All the company’s produce is sold to two main brokers overseas.

The company hopes to expand its operations to capture a significant local market, which includes hotels and the general population. Jamaica consumes a massive amount of seafood and by expanding our operations to include deep sea fishing, this will greatly improve the business’s outlook.
