Growing up, Kaie-Ann Smith always wanted to pursue a career in medicine.

 

After receiving support and encouragement from her family, Kaie-Ann travelled to Cuba in 2002 to start a memorable academic journey.

In 2009, Smith, now fluent in Spanish, earned her medical degree (Hons) from the Faculty of Medicine Jose Asef Yara.

She was also awarded a double residency in neonatology and family medicine but respectfully declined to return to Jamaica.

 

Dr. Kaie-Ann Smith completed her internship at KPH from 2009-2011. She then became a Senior House Officer and rotated shifts at Comprehensive Clinic, Maxfield, Grants Pen and Duhaney Park Health Centers.

 

During this time, she also began working privately for Portmore Medical. By late 2012, Smith moved on to do palliative care at the Hope Institute after losing her aunt to cancer.

Following Kaie-Ann’s devastating loss, she was inspired to continue at KPH and Hope Institute where she still currently works. In 2014, Smith started working at Parkington Health and Oasis Healthcare where she still serves part-time.

Earlier this year, she also worked at Vijay Medical and presently works part-time at Grants Pen Medical.

 

In January 2017, Dr. Smith opened her private practice, where she specialises in primary health care for adults and children.
