Holywell is the main recreation area in the Blue and John Crow Mountain National Park. In July 2015, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee named the Blue and John Crow Mountains Jamaica’s first UNESCO World Heritage site. Up here the air is cool and crisp, there are spectacular views of Kingston stretching from the city to the harbour and beyond. At Holywell Recreational Area, there is so much to discover as you explore the forests of the national park along our hiking trails. You can go to the Visitor’s Centre or view the interpretive signs on-site for more information about the park and its fascinating flora and fauna. At Holywell you will find tours, education, coffee, bird watching, hiking trails, rustic accommodations, and provisions for picnics and camping. From Holywell you can head up to Jamaica’s famous Blue Mountain Peak via the Portland Gap Trail, which stretches for more than 6 miles. Blue Mountain Peak is the highest point on the island and from the top the breath-taking 360 degree view encompasses all of Jamaica and even Cuba to the north.
