At the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF), we are investing for community development. The Jamaica Social Investment Fund mobilises resources and channels these to community-based socioeconomic, infrastructure, and social services projects.

Through a national partnership with central and local government, communities and private and public organisations, the Jamaica Social Investment Fund addresses the immediate demands of communities in a quick, efficient, and effective manner that is transparent and non-partisan.

In fulfilling its mandate, the Jamaica Social Investment Fund facilitates the empowerment of communities and assists in building national capacity to effectively implement community-based programmes aimed at social development.

The Jamaica Social Investment Fund continues to make progress in improving the lives of the under-served populations throughout Jamaica. We are playing our part in moving the country a step closer to achieving the milestones set out in the Vision 2030 development plan.

While in the early days the Jamaica Social Investment Fund had a strong focus on addressing basic community needs, our work has evolved towards making investments aimed at economic growth
developing the youth workforce
job creation and increased earnings at the micro, small and medium enterprise levels.

As a result of our efforts, since inception in 1996, approximately 1.4 million Jamaicans have benefited from the completion and delivery of over 1, 687 sub-projects. These projects span a variety of areas including:

- Urban access and agricultural feeder roads

- Public markets

- Community multipurpose facilities

- Community health centres

- Basic, primary, infant and all-age schools

- Alternative livelihood and vocational skills training

-Market awareness

- Entrepreneurial skills

- Job readiness

- Personal development

- Job preparation skills and literacy

Project beneficiaries also access training in personal money management, conflict resolution, anger management, parenting adolescent and adult life skills, health and hygiene behaviour change.

Beneficiaries also have access to income-earning agricultural and community tourism enterprises. These successes have translated into improved standards of living and access to social and economic services, thereby setting the foundation for a stronger nation..
